Wow.
Just… wow.
Is that really how low people will sink to reply to an ask like that?
How many times do people have to explain that disliking an asian doesn’t make them racist?
I don’t have a problem with Lucy Liu because she’s Asian; I’ve already posted what my problem with Elementary is, so get your facts straight before you call someone racist.

BREAKING NEWS: I’m racist because I don’t like Lucy Liu.

how can you judge people if you don’t know them
how can you think EVERYONE is racist or sexist
how can that be your only argument when you’re being confronted about your opinions
how can you have followers that likes your posts full of bullshit
how can you have followers in the first place

TODAY IS A NEW “SCREW STUPID PEOPLE” RIOT DAY

Okay, I usually don’t touch these type of posts (and I’m not even going to argue about whether or not the fandom disliking Lucy Liu is because of racism or not - not going near that shit with a ten foot pole), but the fact is, you can’t just screenshot ONE ASK from Cate’s Blog and declare her response “low.” Cate is having an on-going discussion on her blog about racism, sexism, and Lucy Liu’s role in Elementary, and screenshotting ONE ask, completely out-of-context, doesn’t prove or illustrate shit about the OP. If you’re going to make a point, you have to talk about the whole damn blog. Cate is one of the most legitimate and eloquent blogs out there when it comes to arguing prejudice and she doesn’t just make shit up to start controversy. Tell the whole damn story or don’t say anything at all.
Furthermore, to the third person, I agree about the not judging people, but please stop thinking that just because you’re enlightened to racism or sexism or any other form of prejudice that you’re not racist in some way. There is absolutely no freaking way, in the world, that you’re not prejudiced. We all are, deep down, because it’s been ingrained into us since birth, via media, background, culture, location, etc. EVERYONE IS PREJUDICED, IN SOME WAY. The point, however, is to REALIZE that you inherently have these prejudices, and try to work against them.
Most likely, you aren’t even actively aware of these prejudices, but the more educated you make yourself, the better off you are in being able to realize and prevent prejudice. Saying “Not everyone is racist, so stop saying that” is a bit like saying “When I see you, I don’t see colour - I just see you.” Don’t pigeonhole yourself into one state of mind. Yes, not everyone dislikes Lucy Liu because she’s Asian - but I bet there are some people who do, thus you can’t just throw that argument away, simply because it doesn’t apply directly to you. A truly enlightened person doesn’t say, “I’m not prejudiced.” They say, “I know I have been raised to be prejudiced about these things, but I am actively trying to work against it and better myself from it.”
If you guys want to argue about this, go right ahead. All I have ever asked is to be fair. Don’t take things out of context to suit your needs, don’t be rude when you don’t need to be, and don’t assume that you’re naturally better than others simply because you “aren’t prejudiced” or whatever - because you are. You just don’t realize it yet. Stop blaming, stop ranting, and start doing something to fix the situation.

AU meme → Dean/Castiel as university professors who embark on an inter-department romance

Dean Winchester lived a pretty simple life. He read novels, graded papers, and went to his brother’s for dinner on Sundays. He liked it that way. His routine was good, it was safe, and he’d never really entertained that something might be missing—that is, until Castiel Milton came long. Cas was not the strangest history professor Dean had ever met, but he certainly was the most fascinating. He was eccentric and intense, and four types of handsome, and somehow Dean brought about a smile in him. It was only a matter of time then, really, before they became the talk of the school.
