Rose? Rose Fucking Tyler? The sales assistant from East London who lacked the self-actualisation to become anything until the Doctor appeared and savedher life?

She’s who Time Lords pray to?

DON’T PISS ME OFF!

Wow. There are a lot of things completely messed up about this comment. I won’t go into the fact that the fact that Rose was an insecure character in the beginning was PURPOSEFUL and the fact that she becomes a fucking amazing and strong character by the end of Series 4 in a GORGEOUS character development arch or the fact that the Doctor not believing in gods or religion in general but only believing in Rose Tyler is CANON, because clearly, that would be rude and I understand that you don’t HAVE to like Rose Tyler.

The only thing that I have an issue with is the fact that you REBLOGGED THIS PHOTOSET FROM ME and POSTED HATE ON IT, hate that I and the OP will see. If you DON’T LIKE THE POST, THEN JUST DON’T REBLOG IT, PLEASE. Or if you INSIST on reblogging it and hating on the character, then do it in the tags because then the original poster and I won’t have to see it.

You’re more than welcome to hate Rose Tyler all you want. But posting hate ON the reblog as a comment is just rude and immature. Because guess what? No one cares about your special little snowflake hate. I certainly don’t. Furthermore, I really have no idea why you’re following me if you’re the type of person to reblog posts and hate, considering all I do is preach about being nice to those whose opinion you do not share and not hating on ANY of the companions.

Either way, you’re completely free to hate Rose Tyler, dear. Just try and be respectful about it, please.

I don’t hate Rose - she was a great and very fun character. What I can’t stand is the way she is treated like the Eye of Harmony radiates the Time Vortex out of her backside.

How can anyone say Rose is who Time Lords pray to? What makes her so much more special than Martha, Donna, or Amy? Or, for that fact, any of the Doctor’s prior companions? Without Sarah Jane Smith, for example, there couldn’t have been a Rose Tyler. Sarah-Jane was the original bad-ass female companion.

However, I digress. The question asked in The God Complex had so much more potential - to look into Gallifreyan culture, to synthesize a pre-Rassilonian philosophical and religious description of life on Gallifrey, and grant insight into why the Doctor is the way he is.

But hey, we can just continue with the pointless fetishisation of one character above all others. Because that’s not tedious or anything.

I agree, to be honest. I don’t think that Rose Tyler specifically is what Time Lords pray to. I think Satan’s Pit!Doctor specifically was referring to Rose, yes, but the overall faith that the Doctor has (as per mentioned in the God Complex) is his faith in people/humanity and his companions.

Either way, while Amy’s question was referring to Gallifreyan culture in general, the subtext was essentially “what do YOU believe in, Doctor?” Because that was the point, right? (Also, you know, because he’s the only one left.) You don’t have to believe in a specific deity or religion for the minotaur to come to you - just a specific person or persons. Amy’s faith held with the Doctor and I believe the Doctor’s holds with the goodness of people (human or not) and the strength of his companions and maybe even the permanence of his connection with TARDIS.

However, the OP decided to take this quote and connect it back with the “I believe in her!” statement and you cannot hold that against them; it’s a very obvious connection to make, and while you don’t have to 100% agree with it, it makes for brilliant shipping gifsets.

That all aside, this is still someone’s hard work. Someone still put time and effort into making this and you reblogging it only to say what you did and then tag it with “fuck Rose Tyler” is not respectful in the least. It doesn’t matter if you like or don’t like Rose Tyler. Leave your opinions IN THE TAGS where the OP doesn’t have to see it. Unless you’re going to tag with with intelligent and realistic meta (like in your reply to me), then don’t do it at all. Because guess what? If I hadn’t reblogged this post from you and said something, then the OP would have woken up tomorrow to JUST see your comment and thought, “wow, that is incredibly rude.” Your comment essentially belittled the OP’s hard work and that’s not fair at all. Making gifsets is hard and finding inspiration for them is even harder. I reiterate: if you don’t like a gifset or don’t approve of what it’s implying, then don’t reblog it. Or if you do, leave your comments in the tags, unless you’re going to explain nicely with legitimate (and polite!) reasoning. If you had reblogged this from me with what you wrote the second time, then I wouldn’t have said a word.

It’s happened to me before (I cannot even count how many times I got Martha hate in the comments when I did my Top Ten Martha Jones is Flawless) and it pisses me off to no end. Please, please just try to be more respectful. Now that you’ve clarified, your opinion makes sense and doesn’t scream UNNECESSARY ANGER AND HATE like your first comment did (which is nice, tbh, I appreciate a good intellectual debate), but if I hadn’t said anything in the first place, your post would have just come off as hateful and douchey.
