AU Meme - The Doctor finally breaks, and on the verge of making a terrible choice that risks the lives of too many, it is up to a few of his former companions to stop him.

They’re calling them the Doctor’s Six. There’s a rumor that they know how to stop him, that they’re the only ones who can. Humanity must finally rely on them to save us from this alien threat known as the Oncoming Storm.

“None of you understand! This is the only way! I’ve approached this from every angle. You have to trust me.” The Doctor’s breath was heavy and his eyes wild as he looked on the ones he had loved for so many years. He was desperate.

“Doctor, we can still fix this. You don’t have to do it. There’s always a way out,” shouted Rose amidst the distant booms. She turned to Martha, urging her to speak up.

“We’ve figured something out, but we need the time to tell you. You need to step away from that device and then we can work it out.” Martha’s arm instinctively raised, her hand reaching for the Doctor’s. She could feel Jack grip her shoulder tightly as she moved.

The Doctor shook his head fervently and took a deep breath. “I have to do this. It has to be me.”

“And it has to be all those people, too? All those lives, Doctor. What is this solving?” Amy was standing between Mickey and Rory, her hands clutching their arms in an attempt to hold them back. 

The Doctor looked back at Amy, looked back on them all with all the sorrow that his 1100 years could muster before his arms motioned to pull the lever that sealed the fate of an entire planet. Rory, Mickey and Rose bolted toward him.
